B Vitamins

The B vitamin family consists of a group of individual vitamins. The most important function of the B vitamin family is to work as coenzymes in the body, mediating the energy production cycle, also known as the Krebs cycle. B vitamins are water-soluble and are generally safe in large doses because the body can easily excrete excess intake. Since B vitamins work synergistically in many of their functions, many people find best results when they are all taken together in a B complex formula. Individual B vitamins, on the other hand, may be recommended for therapeutic reasons, since their action in large doses can produce specific effects.

Methyl B-12 1,000 mcg Lozenges (Item #206)

Many of us know that vitamin B-12 is important for energy and red blood cell production. A water-soluble vitamin, B-12 is essential for cardiovasuclar health, as well as supporting proper nerve and mental function. B-12 is important for everyone, but especially for vegetarians and seniors who tend to be lacking in B-12. B-12 is also necessary for the methylation of homocysteine, a damaging by-product of protein metabolism. Vitamin B-12 can be found in several forms, and in dietary supplements the two most commonly found are cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin. Methylcobalamin is considered the active form of vitamin B-12 and may be better absorbed than cyanocobalamin. Consumers continue to request this more...Full Details

Methyl B-12 5000 mcg Lozenge (Item #203)

Methylcobalamin or vitamin B-12, is required for many critical functions in the body. It is a cofactor for the activation of two key enzymes in the body, which play essential roles in folate metabolism and energy metabolism.

Vitamin B-12 is essential for maintaining healthy brain function and assists in the production of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, melatonin, dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine.

We cannot make B-12 our own and depend on dietary intake or supplements to maintain normal levels. There are 4 different forms of vitamin B-12 that can be found in foods and supplements...Full Details

Methyl B-12 & Folate + P-5-P Micro Tabs (Item #245)

Active Methylated B vitamins are essential water-soluble nutrients in the vitamin B family important for cellular health, cardiovascular health, and neurotransmitter synthesis. Vitamin B--12 is important for red blood cell formation, neurological function, and DNA synthesis. Folate is important for DNA synthesis and to prevent neural tube defects during pregnancy. Pyridoxal Phosphate (P-5-P), the active coenzyme form of B6, is crucial for neurotransmitter synthesis. By combining the biologically active coenzyme forms of B9, B-12, and B6 this formula supports recycling of homocysteine to methionine and supports cellular metabolism.

Methyl Folate 400 mcg 5-MTHF (Item #210)

Folate, also known as folic acid, or Vitamin B9, is required for many critical functions in the body. L-Methylfolate (5-MTHF) is the biologically active from of B9; the other forms of B9 include folic acid and folate.

We cannot make folate on our own and depend on supplementation or dietary ingestion to maintain normal levels. Regardless of the source, (folate or folic acid) it must be converted into its active form (methylfolate) to be useful to the body; this conversion can become problematic for those with an MTHFR gene mutation.  The methylfolate form (5-MTHF) form can be more desirable for those looking to bypass...Full Details
