Facts:
Herbal
formulations have a long history of healing power. Our
herbals are carefully selected to reflect a combination
of science, traditional use and results. Medicinal herbs
provide a natural adjunct to alternative and traditional
health care. Many traditional health care professionals
are now learning more about the alternatives available.
Our Ultimate Extract® line of herbal supplements
utilizes advanced technology to obtain the best results.
We do this in three steps by:
1. breaking open the cell walls
2. extracting the material, and
3.
combining it with the marc (in most products)
Depending
on the herb, we have chosen the best form of delivery,
including:
- Standardized
powdered extract
- 1:1
powdered extract
- Semi-purified
standardized powdered extract
- Concentrated
powdered extract
Each
herb has a unique structure that benefits from individualized
extraction methods. This is how VitaCeutical Labs is
able to bring your customers the results they want.
When you compare our Ultimate Extract® herbs to
the others, you will see why our herbs are considered
premium, high quality products. Many herbs have more
than one function; the following table provides common
uses for each herbal preparation.

1.
Are
the herbs standardized in Menopause Formula TM (VL979)?
|
|
| |
This
product is manufactured using the Ultimate Extract®
process for increased bioavailability. These three herbs
are standardized as follows:
- Black
Cohosh Root Extract provides 2.5% triterpene glycosides
- Dong
Quai Root Extract contains 1 % ligustilides
- Red
Clover Herb Extract is standardized to 8% total isoflavones

2.
What
bioflavonoids are in Ginkgo Biloba (VL980)? |
|
| |
This
outline summarizes the relationship of the active compounds
found in ginkgo biloba tree leaves. Ginkgo biloba extract's
(GBE) active constituents:
A.
Ginkgo flavone glycosides (24%) - bioflavonoids
1.
quercetin
2. kaempferol
3. isohamnetin
B.
Terpene lactones (6%)
1.
ginkgolides A, B, and C
2. bilobalide

3.
What
does 4X refer to in Valerian Root Extract (VL150)? |
|
| |
The
"4X" refers to the concentration, i.e., four
pounds of valerian root is used to make one pound of extract.
According to the supplier, this concentration is considered
a "high" concentration compared to "3X"
or "2X" which would be considered moderate and
low concentrations respectively. |

4.
What
type of ginseng root is used in Chinese Ginseng (VL982)?
|
|
| |
Our
raw material supplier uses the highest quality whole
white Chinese ginseng roots. Red Chinese ginseng root
is simply the white root that has undergone a steaming
process. Although both red and white roots are the same
botanical material, they are used differently.
The
white Chinese ginseng is most commonly used for its
effect as a general tonic and adaptogen, imparting resistance
to a large range of physical, chemical and biological
stresses. It also may hasten recovery after illness,
chronic ailments or surgery. The red Chinese ginseng
has more stimulating effects as an endocrine system
and sexual tonic, specifically affecting male hormone
(testosterone) production.

What are the German Commission E Monographs? |
|
| |
The
Commission E of the German Federal Health Agency was
the group responsible for researching and regulating
the safety and efficacy of herbs and phytomedicines
in Germany. This group began publishing monographs in
1978 and ceased developing monographs in 1993. It has
been called the world's most rational system for assessing
the traditional uses and modern scientific research
on herbal medicines. This information is an unbiased
resource, showing how botanical extracts can be used
responsibly. The actual monographs assessed and approved
or disapproved herbs for sale in Germany.

6.
What
is the kava lactone content in the Kava Kava extract powder
(VL987)?
|
|
| |
The
kava lactone content is approximately 4.3% to 5.3% per
capsule, providing a true full spectrum supplement.
This extract is placed back on the marc, meaning the
actual plant material from which it was extracted is
used as the carrier. Our supplier states that it is
more important to start off with a high quality whole
plant part (root), than to have a standardized product.
Unfortunately, some manufacturers use other portions
of the plant, such as the leaves, because they are high
in kava lactones as well. However, the leaves will not
give the same therapeutic effect as using just the root.

7.
What
type of alcohol is used in the Ultimate Extract® process?
|
|
| |
It
is called Specially Denatured Alcohol, Formula 3-C. It
contains 95% grain-based ethanol and 5% isopropyl alcohol.
The isopropyl alcohol is needed to denature the ethanol,
making it unfit for consumption as an alcoholic beverage.
However, this denaturant becomes negligible since practically
all the solvent is evaporated off the powdered extracts.
(Denatured alcohols are used as solvents because they
are not taxed at consumer alcohol levels.) This highly
refined formula is approved by the Code of Federal Registry.
Please remember that your private label Ultimate Extract®
products never contain more than 0.5% residual alcohol.

Where is Goldenseal grown? Is it cultivated or wildcrafted?
|
|
| |
It
is grown in the Mississippi drainage, meaning all states
in the Appalachian area that border the Mississippi
and Ohio Rivers. Our supplier works directly with ethical
wildcrafters to ensure that only mature four-year old
roots are pulled. Since the plant is not present to
drop seeds naturally, seeds are sprinkled in the areas
where the roots were pulled. Our supplier supports every
effort in curtailing irresponsible wildcrafting to prevent
extinction of beneficial botanical materials.
Our
Echinacea-Goldenseal Complex (VL991) formula contains
Goldthread and Oregon Grape Root. These herbs, similar
in function to goldenseal, are used in combination with
goldenseal to help minimize the impact on the goldenseal
harvest. Please note that this formula is for short
term use only; goldenseal is typically used for 7 -14
days.

9.
What is the difference between Echinacea 400 mg (VL978)
and Echinacea Blend 250 mg (VL990)? |
|
| |
Echinacea
400mg (VL978):
- is
a 1:1 extract, meaning 1 kg of raw material is used
to produce 1 kg of powdered extract.
- the
source is Echinacea purpurea
- all
of the marc is used as the carrier
- can
be used for basic herbal support
Echinacea
Blend 250 mg (VL990):
- is
a standardized product. It is standardized to 4% phenolic
compounds. This product is typically about a 4:1 ratio.
Some of the marc is tossed and some of it is used
as a carrier.
- is
a more concentrated product and can be used to provide
additional support when needed. This is an idea! product
during the fall and winter months and during times
of stress.
- the
source of the Echinacea is a blend of Echinacea purpurea
and Echinacea angustifolia. Some herbalists believe
a combo of these two will produce additional benefits.

10.
Are the Garlic Caps (VL145) made from aged garlic? |
|
| |
No.
Our garlic caps are made from fresh-pressed garlic oil,
providing the equivalent of 500 mg of fresh garlic. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
11.
Is the product odor free? |
|
| |
The
product is odor reduced. An odor free product would have
to be chemically treated. By encapsulating our product
in a softgel, we reduce the amount of odor that is naturally
occurring. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
12.
What happens if I break the gel open and try to dissolve
it in a liquid? |
|
| |
If
you break open the softgel and attempt to dissolve it
in a liquid, you will find that the oil does not readily
mix with water or other liquids. You will experience an
increase in the smell of the product since the molecules
will bind to the air and liquids, producing a more intensely
scented product. |
