  1. What percentage of kelp contains iodine?

Although the iodine content of kelp varies considerably from season to season, we guarantee a specific amount - 225 micrograms of iodine per tablet - in our Kelp With Iodine (VL614).

  2. Is the sea salt removed from Kelp With Iodine (VL614)?

Harvested from a remote, nonindustrial area off the coast of Peru, the kelp is rinsed with sea water to remove loose sand. Fresh water rinsing increases the likelihood of bacterial contamination. Kelp contains naturally occurring sodium, as well as sodium from sea salt. This kelp source contains about 7 mg of sodium/tablet. By contrast, a "low sodium" food is defined as 140 mg sodium/serving.

  3. Why is Hawaiian Spirulina (VL141) considered a superior source of spirulina?
Because of Hawaii's twelve month sun cycle, the algae is stimulated to create more antioxidants providing over six different carotenes and making a more nutrient rich product. In addition, the deep ocean water is circulated with fresh water in the growing ponds providing maximum oxygen circulation.

  4. Is the alfalfa provided in an extract form?
Our Alfalfa (VL70S) is provided as an alfalfa extract (4:1) and contains the leaves and seeds. Only the course fiber is removed.
