HMB: BETA-HYDROXY BETA-METHYL BUTYRATE

Many of you asked in the new product survey "what is it?", in regards to HMB.

HMB is the abbreviation for beta-hydroxy beta-methyl butyrate. It is a breakdown product of the amino acid leucine. Research has shown HMB has a role in regulating protein metabolism and that HMB can help build muscle and burn fat, but only in response to exercise. After it is produced in the body, it can take one of three metabolic pathways:

1) make cholesterol
2) excreted in urine
3) stimulate protein synthesis & to maximize the muscle-building effect of exercise.

Because it is found in some foods, it is considered a dietary supplement. Several studies show that HMB is safe and effective for men and women. This product is very popular among men and women trying to gain lean body weight and muscular strength. Current research is also evaluating HMB's impact on preserving muscle in individuals with muscle wasting diseases (ie AIDS, cancer etc.) and maintaining lean mass in women on a weight-reduction diet.

With this information under your belts, have a chat with your buyers. Is it popular? Is it selling? What is the most popular delivery system? (ie capsules? beverages? tablets?) I have read three grams per day is popular. Investigate and let me know what you find!
