  1. Why do the capsules look empty, not completely filled like they previously did?

We have recently purchased new equipment to help increase our productivity. This machinery will help us to maintain or decrease our costs. One new machine is a state-of-the-art encapsulating machine that can encapsulate approximately 480,000 capsules per day ( 8 hour shift). Our older machines could only encapsulate 70,000 capsules in an 8 hour shift. This new machine produces a capsule that appears not completely filled. However, this is not the case! The new machine more tightly compresses the raw material, giving the capsule a "less full" appearance. This does NOT change the weight, potency, nor does it effect the bioavailability of the product. In fact, the new machine can check its own weight (raw material) and recalibrate itself to stay within a target range. ^Top

  2. What type of gelatin is used in our capsules and softgels?
The gelatin used in the majority of our capsules and a soft gels is made from a mixture of beef and pork products. Excluding Vegicaps, there are only two products that are made in an all beef gelatin capsule, they are: VL# 123 Vitamin E 400 IU and VL#124 Vitamin E 1000 IU. These are our current specifications, which may change in the future . ^Top

  3. Why does the serving suggestion in the soy protein powder not match the total servings?

The serving dosages in our soy protein powder read:
Serving size =1/3 cup (28g)
Servings per container about 16

This is correct. 1/3 cup is placed on the label since many consumers do not have the resources to weigh 28 grams.
1/3 cup is an estimate of an ounce. 1oz is approximately 28.35g. The 16 servings is an approximation of the total servings a can of soy powder will yield. ^Top

  4.  In the Ultimate Capsules, VL# 520, what is the source of the 2 mg of chlorophyll?

The source of the chlorophyll is alfalfa. ^Top

5.   Are the garlic caps made from aged garlic? Is the product odor free? What happens if I break the gel open and try to dissolve it in a liquid?

No, the garlic caps are not derived from aged garlic. At the time of formulation, this was not a concern. However, there are many beneficial components found in our garlic oil.

No, the product is odor reduced.

If you break open the soft gel and attempt to dissolve it in a liquid, you will find that the product does not want to go into solution. Oil does not readily mix with water or other liquids. You will experience an increase in the smell of the product since the molecules will bind to the air and liquids, producing a more intensely scented product. ^Top

  6. Why does the color of Vitamin E vary from batch to batch?

Our vitamin E products are natural and contain no artificial colors or preservatives. Because of this, the color may vary from batch to batch. The color may vary, but the same high standards of manufacturing are consistent with this product. If your customers are still having difficulty with this idea, use "Tracee's Tomato Analogy": When you go to the store and purchase a bag of organic tomatoes, do all the tomatoes have the same color? No, a variation in reds and oranges will naturally occur! This same concept can apply to our NATURAL vitamin E product as well! ^Top

  7. What is the difference between a heme or non-heme iron?

Heme iron comes from meat. Non-heme iron is derived from plants or is mined from the ground. ^Top

  8. Which of these two forms of iron do you have in your products?

Our products contain a highly purified, non-heme form of iron that is mined. ^Top

  9. If Vitamin E comes from soy, can people with soy allergies take this product?

In general, allergies are the result of foreign proteins not recognized by your body which then triggers an immune response. Our vitamin E is a refined oil that does not contain proteins. Therefore, allergies are unlikely to occur but those that are extremely sensitive, may experience a reaction. It would be best to check with your healthcare provider, who is familiar with your medical history, to best determine your sensitivity. ^Top

10.   Do soy isoflavones such as those in NovaSoy ™ Soy Isoflavones (VL# 144) get damaged from a water and alcohol extraction process?

No. Isoflavones are not damaged from extraction using alcohol. What does happen is that they get "washed out" or removed from the soybean. Unless recovered as is done with Nova Soy™ Soy Isoflavone ( VL# 144). Our Supro ® Soy Protein Powder (VL# 962) is processed only with water to retain isoflavones since there is no recovery system in this process.

What can you do with the isoflavones that are washed out from such a process?

They can be recovered then processed to be an isoflavone concentrate. ^Top

  11. How do you test for isoflavone content in a product?

Tests are performed using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). ^Top
